Ants are the most common call-out in Altona from October through to April; coastal brown ants nest in the sand under paths and slabs, black house ants run the pipes and power lines into the kitchen, and Argentine ants take over garden beds in the warm months.
We find where the trail goes rather than spraying the bench. Nests under pavers and along the slab edge get a transfer bait the workers carry home; entry points along the perimeter, eaves and window frames get a treated band. Inside, gel baits go where the ants feed so the colony is dealt with over a week or two.
Products are chosen for homes with children and pets and placed out of reach. We will also point out the things that keep bringing ants in, such as a dripping tap, pet bowls left down overnight or mulch against the house.
